On-Site Teaching Assistant

Locations: San Francisco, Brentwood and Walnut Creek

​

Job Description:

As an On-Site Teaching Assistant at Choros Charas, you will play a vital role in supporting our instructors and creating an engaging and effective learning environment for our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Assist instructors during classes by managing logistics, ensuring the availability of necessary materials, and providing additional support to students.

  2. Student Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere by engaging with students, addressing questions, and providing assistance in understanding class content.

  3. Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties, such as attendance tracking, communication with parents or guardians, and organizing class materials.

  4. Facility Management: Ensure that the learning environment is conducive to education by organizing and maintaining classroom spaces, including setup and cleanup.

  5. Event Support: Collaborate with the team in organizing and executing events, performances, and workshops held at the respective locations.

  6. Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication channels between instructors, students, and Choros Charas administration.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Passion for the arts and a basic understanding of Bharatanatyam or willingness to learn.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and creative environment.

  • Previous experience in an educational or arts-related setting is preferred.

  • Basic administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

 

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years experience required in a teaching assistant role or a similar educational setting.

However, a genuine enthusiasm for the arts and a willingness to learn and contribute are equally valued.

 

Pay:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Choros Charas is committed to offering competitive and fair remuneration.

 

Nature of Work:

This is a part-time position with hours based on class schedules and events. The nature of work is dynamic, requiring adaptability, a proactive attitude, and a passion for contributing to the artistic and educational goals of Choros Charas.

Public Relations with a skill to write Grants.

We are looking for an individual who can manage Public Relations and Grant Writing to join our team and lead our efforts in securing funding to help our organization operate throughout the year. 

Responsibilities include researching grant opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals to acquire funding, and working with our leadership team to ensure we have enough capital each year.

Ultimately, you will work with our leadership team to understand our financial needs and ensure we attain funding.

Skill

  • Excellent communication and verbal skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of prior experience as a Grant Writer or similar role

  • Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals

  • Great with MS Office Word and Excel

  • Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources

  • Exceptional organizational and writing skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in creative writing, PR or related field.

What is expected

  • Assist with the execution of the development department’s strategy

  • Identify grant funding opportunities

  • Write, submit and manage grant proposals

  • Furnish prospective funders with supporting documents

  • Collaborate with Executive Director and Director of Development to send benefactors newsletters and to promote on-site tours

  • Collaborate with Director of Development to compile an annual report

What is the Pay?

Part-time - 3-4 hrs per week - $30/- weekly

Full-Time - $150/- - $200/- Monthly.
