Sloka No 1

Guru Brahma Guru Vushnu hu ||
Guru Devo Maheshwara ha ||
Guru sakshat Para Brahma
Thasmai Shri Gurave Nama ha ||

Meaning

Guruvu or Guru (Teacher or Master) is revered greatly by us as he is a wealth of knowledge. And by offering our sincere obedience to him we expect to gain knowledge from him. Master or Teacher is the one who would direct us to the path of Enlightenment, and save us from the darkness of ignorance. Hence Teacher should be given profound honor and respect.

Gurave Sarva Lokhanam
Bhishaje Bhava Rohinam
Nidhaye sarva Vidhyanam
Shri Dhakshinamoorthaye Namaha


Meaning

Salutations to the God of South,

Who is the teacher of all the world,

Who is the doctor for all diseases,

And who is the storehouse of all knowledge.

Saraswathi Namsthubyam 
Varadhe Kaamaroopini
Vidhyarambham Karishyami 
Sidhir Bhavathume Sadha


Meaning

O! Goddess of knowledge, Saraswati, the giver of boons, the embodiment of fulfilling the wishes, my salutations to you.  I shall begin my education, and may there be always accomplishment for me.
